1. What information do we collect?

We collect information you provide directly, including account details, profile details, preferences, support requests, and in-app content.

We collect usage and device information such as app events, diagnostics, and interaction metadata.

We may receive information from third parties, including social providers, analytics vendors, and publicly available sources.

2. How do we process your information?

We process information to operate the service, personalize experiences, improve matching and recommendation quality, provide support, enforce safety policies, and comply with legal obligations.

3. What legal bases do we rely on?

Depending on your location, we rely on consent, contract performance, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and other valid legal bases under applicable law.

4. When and with whom do we share information?

We may share information with service providers, infrastructure vendors, analytics vendors, support providers, and legal authorities when required.

We may share information in connection with business transfers, fraud prevention, and platform safety.

5. Cookies and tracking

Our websites and related tools may use cookies and similar technologies for session management, analytics, and product improvement.

6. AI-based features

Distill uses AI-assisted features to support matching, recommendations, and communication experiences. These features rely on third-party large language model and vision providers, and your content may be transmitted to those providers to generate responses. See Section 18 for the list of providers, the categories of data sent, and how to withdraw consent.

AI outputs may be probabilistic and may not always be accurate. We continuously improve quality and safety.

7. Social logins

If you use social sign-in, we may receive profile data from those providers based on permissions you grant.

8. Data retention

We retain information for as long as needed for service operation, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and policy enforcement.

9. Data security

We maintain technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.

10. Information from minors

Our services are intended only for users who are at least 18 years old.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict processing of your data.

12. Do-not-track signals

Because standards are still evolving, we do not currently respond to all browser do-not-track signals.

13. US privacy rights

US residents may have additional rights under state privacy laws, subject to applicable exceptions.

14. Internet presence insights

You consent to our collection and use of publicly available internet presence signals to support profile quality and matching features.

15. Visibility of personal information

Profile visibility depends on feature settings, account state, and product surfaces where your profile may appear.

16. AI inference and representation

We may generate inferred attributes based on your activity and provided information to improve service relevance.

17. Sensitive data consent

Where sensitive data is processed, we rely on valid legal grounds and consent where required.

18. Third-party tools and data sharing

We use third-party service providers to operate core app functionality, analytics, notifications, and support operations.

Third-party AI providers. Distill's matching, chat, profile insights, voice transcription, and personalization features are powered by large language model, vision, embedding, and speech-to-text providers. Depending on the feature in use, we send relevant user content to the following providers: Google LLC (Gemini API, ai.google.dev) — chat reply generation, onboarding chat, profile photo analysis, visual trait extraction, compatibility assessment, and roast/tease generation; xAI Corp. (Grok API, x.ai) — user-selectable chat reply generation and onboarding fallback; DeepSeek (api.deepseek.com) — chat reply fallback, profile generation, agent conversation, and screenshot-based profile extraction; OpenAI, L.L.C. (api.openai.com) — voice memo transcription via the Whisper API, semantic embeddings of your tags, visual traits, and individual messages via text-embedding-3-small, and an optional GPT-based chat reply fallback; and Hugging Face, Inc. (huggingface.co) — hosting our humor preference model and, where you have consented, receiving wingman messages and the emoji reactions you give them as training data used to fine-tune that model.

What we send to AI providers. Depending on the feature in use, we may transmit: (a) your onboarding question responses and profile content (including text fields you author) to Google Gemini, xAI Grok, DeepSeek, and (where enabled as a fallback) OpenAI for matching, profile insight, chat, and personalization features; (b) wingman and match-chat messages you send and receive to the same providers for response generation and long-term memory retrieval; (c) photos you upload to Google Gemini and DeepSeek for image-based features such as profile photo analysis, visual trait extraction, and tease/roast generation; (d) audio you record as voice memos to OpenAI for speech-to-text transcription via the Whisper API (transcripts are stored on our backend and used to generate profile content); (e) short text snippets — your tags, visual traits, and individual messages (up to 8,000 characters per message) — to OpenAI for vector embeddings used in semantic matching and long-term memory; and (f) where you have consented and the feature is enabled, wingman messages and the emoji reactions you give them to a private Hugging Face dataset used to fine-tune our humor preference model. We do not send your phone number, contact list, payment data, or precise location coordinates to AI providers. We do not use your AI conversations to train third-party foundation models, and we contract with these providers under terms designed to provide protections equivalent to those described in this policy.

Other third-party services. In addition to AI providers, we use Firebase (Google LLC) for authentication, push notifications, and crash diagnostics; Apollo and our self-hosted GraphQL backend for data storage and synchronization; and Microsoft Clarity (web only) for product analytics with consent. These providers receive only the information needed to operate their respective features (for example, an authentication token, a device push token, or anonymized usage events).

Your consent. We ask for your permission before enabling features that send your data to third-party AI providers. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting admin@distilldating.com or, where available, by disabling AI-powered features in app settings. If you withdraw consent, AI-assisted features will be unavailable.

You must be 18 or older to use Distill.

20. Beta participation terms

Beta features may change without notice and may have limited functionality or availability.

21. No guarantee of outcomes

We do not guarantee specific matching outcomes, engagement outcomes, or relationship outcomes.

22. User conduct and safety

Users must follow platform rules and applicable law. We may enforce policies to protect community safety.

23. Content license

You retain ownership of your content but grant us rights needed to host, process, and display content as required to provide the services.

24. Updates to this notice

We may update this policy periodically. Material updates are reflected by the updated date.
